The accidental discovery of gold by shipwrecked Daphne uncovers an abandoned historic claim. Her writer friend, Erica, delves into the past to meet an old prospector, Robbie, who digging with a mate, Malcolm, was interrupted by World War II. Malcolm’s plane was shot down, and he was spirited into Switzerland, suffering memory loss, there to remain, never knowing that he has a daughter in New Zealand.

Fifty years later Daphne and her friends, including artist Edgar, set out to work the claim, only to be thwarted by the despicable Cynthia, who manages to lose a husband and a lover in the process.
