Biography

Clark has been painting and writing since he was a boy in the 50s, and two years after his first marriage, his first novel, the third book of the Wind From The West series, now titled Storm & Stress was written in 1962. The second book in the series, Neap Tide followed in 1963, and Moon Over the Manukau and Waves On The Waitemata in 1964. Spring Tide and Setting Of The Sun followed later with several other novels, including The Consequence and Plantation (now shortened and called The Rain Forest.) He did not publish these as paperbacks until 2006, beginning with Moon Over The Manukau.

In the meantime, Clark had parted from his first wife, Charmaine, travelled to England in 1972, stayed for two and a half years, became involved in politics there, and on his return to New Zealand with Social Credit. He had a brief stint as an Epsom art gallery owner in 1978, then went with a friend to South Australia, managed a motel, and when that was sold moved to Brisbane, where he resumed painting. In 1982 0n the death of his father, he returned to New Zealand for his funeral, and met up with Anne, whom he had previously known through scouts. Here he stayed, and began an indoor plant hire business, which he has owned for almost forty years. He and Anne lived in a New Lynn cottage complete with stream for over thirty years, and several years ago moved into a nearby retirement village. He is currently working on another two New Zealand novels of undefined character, set on the west coast of the North Island.

Clark has three children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
