New Zealand’s west coast is notoriously dangerous, being regularly assailed from the northwest by remnants of cyclones, or from the southwest by atrocious Tasman Sea storms. Many ships have been dashed to pieces at harbour and river entrances, or driven aground on its beaches, particularly nineteenth-century sailing ships, which were at the mercy of the wind and sea. This is the setting for Seduced – The Story of a Cottage. It is spread over two eras, and the lives of two women who inhabited the cottage during those separate times.
